70s Group Work

Glam Rock

In the same groups as for the Motown piece we have to put together a 70s piece, my group have chosen to do Glam Rock. At first I felt very uncomfortable with genre as I had no knowledge of it whatsoever. I looked for Glam Rock songs on YouTube to get the sound of what I was going to compose. 
I came across:

• Abba
• David Bowie
• David Cassidy
• T. Rex
• Alex Cooper 

And many more....

I listened to a certain YouTube clip over and over to capture the Glam Rock sound:

From this Phillipa and I created a simple tune which later on we would layer on top of.

As a group we decided the focus of our song would be female empowerment and freedom. As we struggled to write lyrics to portray this theme with a Glam Rock feel, we agreed to take the lyrics from Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun and fit them to the instrumental we put together, changing it from a pop song to a Glam Rock song.
